Q: I would like to utilize your service, where do I start?
A: Call Susie Wright direct at 1 (661) 821-1656 (PST) and talk to her about your business needs.
Q: What is your Turn Around Time, (TAT)?
A: We strive for Same Day Service but provide an estimate of 24 hours and 48 hours for large assignments. You will receive Status Reports daily so you know exactly where we are with your work. If the recording is poor, it will take more time and more of your money. I will utilize my audio sound equipment and try to improve it. You have an option at that time to have us move forward with the recording or cancel the assignment. There is a $25.00 fee for the time it takes to work with the audio software, payable by credit card on the same date. Know that every effort is made by the Wright’s Typing staff to accommodate all of your audio needs.
Q: Do you keep copies of my audios /transcripts/summaries/reports?
A: In a word, no. We do not keep copies after the assignments are finished and sent to you. This is for liability purposes.
Q: Can I send you my formats, templates, and sample(s) for to you to utilize when preparing my confidential work product?
A: Absolutely, I encourage it.
Q: Would you sign a Confidentiality Agreement?
A: Yes, without hesitation.
Q: What transcription format do you use?
A: We utilize a standard court approved numbered pleading template of 25-lines per page. No transcripts from Wright’s Typing have ever been called into question by a court or an attorney in 36-years of transcription. (Note) A transcript does not leave my office until after I have listened to the recording while proofing it on the monitor. If you have further questions regarding why we will only prepare transcripts using a numbered pleading format, you are welcome to call the office and ask for Susie Wright at 1 (661) 821-1656 PST.
Q: When do I receive my invoice?
A: Within approximately 10-minutes, after your assignment has been emailed to you and you have confirmed receipt of same.
Q: What method of Payments do you accept?
A: Credit Cards or PayPal. We no longer can accept personal or company checks. (Note): Before sending your first assignment, Susie will ask for your credit card information. After you have approved the work we sent to you, and received your invoice, Payment is immediate – your card on file with Susie will be processed and kept on file by secure means.
Q: What digital audio formats do you use and can you accept the old standard or micro cassettes?
A: We receive just about every audio format you can imagine but keep in mind some devices record better than others. Typically, we are sent mp3, .wav, mp4, wma, .dss, and all the current formats out today. We do our best to keep up with changing times. In response to the second question, no – we no longer have the machines to transcribe any cassettes, “Go Digital” and contact Joe. K. Winner from HTH Engineering and Start/Stop. Joe is an Authorized Olympus Dealer whom I have had the pleasure of doing business with for over a decade. He owns a successful family owned business. His direct line is 1 (727) 491-0570. Mention that I referred you. I believe if you sell a good product and provide excellent customer service one should share it with the world.
Q: Can you convert audio and video files?
Q: Susie, how do you bill me for your services?
A: I charge an affordable flat rate “per page” because I believe it is fair business practice.” I have found over the decades that charging other ways is not beneficial for the client. We absorb the extra time when working on an assignment. You may want to determine if our fee can be passed along to your clients so that typing services are essentially free of cost to you. Your per-page charge is based on your specific needs. Contact Wright’s Typing and ask for Susie at 1 (661) 821-1656.
Q: Susie, someone told me that your company summarizes digitally recorded interviews. If I have interviewed a lot of people on a specific day, I am tired at night. Instead of resting or spending time with my family, I’m spending 4 to 6 hours most evenings playing each of my interviews back on my digital recorder, looking at my scribbled notes, and then typing my own reports. I’m not a typist and have never claimed to be one. Oh, I can chug along and my grammar is okay at best but I don’t have enough hours in the day! This is non-billable time for me and the insurance companies nowadays seem to compensate very little time for preparing final reports – I think they believe it should be part of the investigation and I disagree.
A: Yes, we are the only company that offers this service to private investigators – I understand this is a situation that has plagued many investigators for a long time and has become considerably worse lately.
TIP-If you are preparing reports, you may want to consider uploading your audio files after each interview to me. My staff will summarize each audio interview in detail. I read every summary, edit phrasing, grammar, and tone if needed making sure the verbiage is appropriate for an attorney, insurance company, or judge to review. You will be asked by Susie to send some prior interviews you have summarized to use as samples until emulating your way of reporting is memorized. Option: If you want headings added, your summary can become a report. Once you receive the final summary, you will just need to fill in your client information and any other requirements on your end. We prefer not to know claim file numbers, etc.
Q: How many summarized pages would a half-hour or one-hour interview come out to?
A: Excellent question! Know first this type of work is slow going averaging about one page per hour. We absorb the time it takes to prepare summaries and bill you by the page. A ½-hour interview will yield 5 to 6 pages. A one-hour interview will yield about 11-13 pages depending on the amount of information provided by the interviewee. Something very important you should know. Our typists do not interject their own opinions and have no interest in the outcome of any cases. We summarize all answers accurately but we are not licensed private investigators so it is up to you to review all of the content in each summary and transcript we prepare prior to forwarding it to a second or third party or for litigation purposes. Note: Susie Wright proofreads and makes corrections to every document as needed. She also listens to every audio interview “on transcripts only” while reading the typed text on the monitor in MS WORD, (the only program we utilize. All transcriptionists listen to each audio twice and check their own typing against the audio for accuracy as well.
Q: Aren't your services somewhat of a Luxury to Private Investigators nowadays?
A: Excellent Question! Not for investigators who want to produce more work each day!
Take this short test. If you are typing your own reports, time yourself. After you have calculated the amount of time it took you to prepare a finished report, multiply that time by your hourly rate and ask yourself, was it worth x-many dollars and x-amount of your time for you to type your interviews yourself or could you have done something else with that time, such as take another statement, talk with your field e operatives or market your business.
When you have Wright’s Typing working on your behalf you will find a sense of relief knowing you can trust Susie and her staff. You will no longer have to worry about report deadlines because Susie will see that your work is always finished before your due date, providing you with peace of mind.
